About the company
Haysmacintyre LLP (haysmacintyre) is an award winning top 30 firm of chartered accountants and tax advisors, with 37 partners and over 400 staff, providing advice to entrepreneurs, fast-growing and owner-managed businesses, charities and not for profit organisations across the UK and internationally. It helps its clients solve problems, grasp opportunities and achieve their goals. As a top 30 firm, it is large enough to provide a wide range of services, yet small enough to offer a personal, responsive approach. It is the UK’s 11th largest auditor, based on audit fee income of firms with public interest entity (PIE) clients (it audits 26 listed companies).
haysmacintyre is a member of MSI Global Alliance (MSI), which it co-founded over 30 years ago, with the aim that it would support its clients’ international business operations and growth plans. Now MSI is the seventh largest alliance of its kind in the world, involving over 250 medium sized legal and accounting firms based across more than 100 countries. Being part of MSI allows it to offer its clients expert guidance and support internationally through working with its alliance colleagues, alongside also being members of the UK trade and investment advisory network.
The next three years will be an exciting time for haysmacintyre with many opportunities for the Firm. It is being ambitious and the Firm’s core values — integrity, collaboration, empowerment and dynamism — provide a perfect foundation on which to build. With further technological innovation and regulatory developments set to impact its market, its 2022 to 2025 strategic plan is based on a desire to get ahead of the change curve and make significant investments. The plan it has developed is built around the following five central pillars that touch on every aspect of how it operates as a business:
- Put its people at the centre of its plan
- Work with the best possible clients
- Advance its advisory business
- Protect the firm from risk
- Build its management capability and improve its efficiency
About the role
The successful candidate will have held a senior commercial leadership role within a technology, professional or other client-facing services business that has gone through a period of significant growth and can therefore lead and challenge the Leadership Board as the firm enters this new phase. This experience will have been gained within an organisation of similar or larger size than haysmacintyre, with at least 450 employees. They will have held leadership roles (CEO / Managing Partner) where they were directly responsible for the commercial growth of the business and will be able to quantify the scale of growth (new markets entered / growth in employee numbers / revenue) seen under their leadership.
While candidates do not need to have worked within an LLP / partnership firm, candidates should demonstrate an appreciation for the nature of an LLP, and the dynamics of a business owned by its partners.
While not a pre-requisite for the role, experience of successfully outsourcing and off-shoring critical business operations will be of interest as continuing to expand haysmactinyre’s activities in this regard is a key component of its growth strategy.
As this individual will chair the Leadership Board, candidates would have had strong experience of chairing board-level committees either as an executive or non-executive. As the Leadership Board is looking to add to its cognitive diversity, haysmacintyre would be looking for someone to bring a fresh perspective to the firm with experience of sectors outside of their own.
Candidates would preferably be able to attend the Leadership Board meetings and Partner Seminars in person.
