I have been a software developer and entrepreneur for over two decades, building and exiting a range of successful businesses including agency, bootstrapped, and VC-backed companies, most notably Conversocial which was acquired by Verint (Nasdaq: VRNT) for $50m in 2021.
I offer consultancy and mentoring services including interim/fractional CTO, mainly to early-stage startups and small businesses.
What I offer
CTO and software development services
Advisory and Interim/fractional CTO services to early-stage startups and small businesses.
Mentoring, advisory meetings, technology and team audit, down to hands-on software development and recruitment.
My experience covers many technologies along with company management and business strategy.
Broad mentoring of early-stage startups and founders, including strategy, business, and product.
Helping to clarify the startup's vision and path towards growth - asking the right questions to ensure founders can map out their own journey, and form a realistic plan towards their dreams!
Conversocial is an enterprise SaaS product for Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, and Instagram, used by companies including Sephora, Groupon, Tesco, Net A Porter, McDonalds, and more.
The business was acquired by Verint (Nasdaq: VRNT) for $50m in 2021.
I built all aspects of this business, including software development, sales, marketing, and customer support, and led it to a successful sale to a US-based portfolio company.
The business generated $2m in revenue over the four years that I ran it, including the final asset sale.
I designed and built a robot and order control system for this new UK business in the marketing industry.
I continue to advise on technical strategy, with a focus on balance between cost, speed, and technical rigour due to the constraints of the business as it grows.
I mentor the founders on technical and startup/funding strategy at this exciting edtech startup, aiming to help primary school children practice reading in their own style.
The first preferred Facebook Development company in the UK which was co-founded by Joshua March and myself in 2008, specialising in bespoke social application development.
iPlatform was acquired by Betapond in September 2012.
While on holiday in San Francisco, I felt inspired to visit the headquarters of Google, Apple, and other famous tech firms. I was only visiting as a tourist, but somehow ended up giving a talk about a project I was working on to a packed lecture room of employees and Silicon Valley tech luminaries!
