I have 20+ years' experience leading risk management companies through growth, expansion and change. Skilled in strategic planning, change management, and tech transformation. Adept at working with boards and managing large and small projects. Spun out a geopolitical intelligence company from its parent, delivered significant growth and led its successful sale. Now advising a US corporate to build a challenger business in global intelligence.
What I offer
Risk Management Consultancy
I help corporates and organisations to evaluate, manage and respond to significant and severe risks, in particular those that threaten the security, safety and integrity of their people, assets, information and reputations. I specialise in building intelligence, assurance and monitoring systems.
I've successfully led information and professional services businesses as CEO, COO, CIO and board direct. I have proven expertise in designing and delivering strategic plans and change programmes, building and leading high performing teams, achieving growth and delivering positive exit outcomes.
After more than 20 years as an executive board member I know what makes a good NED and business advisor. It goes without saying that constructive challenge is part of the job but you can only do that if you take the time to really understand the business and develop true affinity for it.
CEO at Dragonfly, a geopolitical intelligence service
In 2021 I created and led a spin out from The Risk Advisory Group focused on geopolitical and security intelligence. In January 2023 I sold the new business to US corporate FiscalNote for a total consideration of £30m. I delivered >30% year-on-year growth from 2020 through to the point of sale.
I led Risk Advisory from 2018 to 2021. Back in 2012 I was asked to deliver a firm-wide IT transformation project as CIO, and took charge of information security and data protection. Later, as COO, I led marketing, HR, risk management, and strategic projects like a client-facing software project.
MD and co-founder, Janusian, then Risk Advisory security practice
I was invited to lead a security firm as part of The Risk Advisory Group in response to client demand after 9/11. Janusian pioneered the concept of intelligence-led, low key security. We were able to grow revenues from zero to £12m in three years. I led the sale of our Iraq division to management.
Original member and Operations Director at the St Andrews CSTPV
I am proud to say that I was one of the first two employees of the Centre for the Study of Terrorism and Political Violence. I was privileged to manage a globally significant terrorism database (which inspired me to later create the TerrorismTracker database with Aon) and run third party projects.
