My why is to make leaders' lives better. My career has spanned 36 years from corporate insurance in London to a CEO of a charity in Scotland.
In 2019 I took the plunge into the world of consulting and haven't looked back.
I am passionate about people and supporting and inspiring them to exceed their goals and expectations.
In a business context this allows them and the businesses they work in to flourish.
This delivers growth for all.
What I offer
Deep dive business reviews
I undertake reviews within a business to understand the challenges and obstacles that prevents change and growth.
I have done this with businesses with turnovers of £13m to a large Lloyds of London Insurance syndicate with an income of $540m.
The reviews provide a clear roadmap to success.
With 37 years of business experience I provide hands on practical advice to leaders to solve the short term problems in front of them and then planning for the longer term strategic challenges ahead.
I have Board room experience both in the commercial, corporate and third sector environments.
I provide strategic advice to businesses and its leaders.
I sit as an NED on Commercial and Charity Boards and also support in the background leaders through change, growth and most recently a crisis within their business.
An independent analysis is essential in providing solutions to leaders.
I provide training within the insurance sector for both insurers, brokers & MGA's.
I recently completed accredited training for the Hong Kong Insurance Institute too 200 attendees.
This covered the history if insurance, Lloyds of London and how business is written in the London market.
When in the trenches you can forget to see the big picture or remember even why you started the journey! You forget to pat yourself on the back or more importantly your team.
We work hard but it is so important to create time to reflect, enjoy and have fun.
I make sure we have FUN!
I worked for one of the largest corporate insurance companies in the UK and also one of the most innovative. My experiences here gave me a view of the corporate world and also how you can disrupt the establishment. I am able to bring these skills to give my clients a different view.
As CEO at CentreStage charity where I now sit on the Board of Trustees I have experienced the challenges the less fortunate in society. In a business context I had to get "more from what I had" and learn to be innovative in my thinking and how to pivot quickly as grants and donations changed.
I was part of the management team that started two insurance companies MGA's. Fusion was started in 2001 and achieved more than £100m of premium income. Aspen launched in 2011 and grew to a similar size.
We grew a UK footprint with over 100 staff and became a challenger to the corporate players.
I joined an established 50 year old insurance broking business which when I joined had 30 staff and in 18 months during lockdown grew it to 50.
The premium it controlled rose from £13m to £20m in that time.
I transformed the brand, people and structure to deliver the growth.
I love to push boundaries but when a friend asked I do an Ironman with him I thought he was mad! 9 months later in Barcelona I completed it having never done a triathlon before.
It demonstrated to me that anything is possible with grit, determination and a can do attitude.
