I've been a chief of staff, programme director, head of risk and many other things in big corporations. In 2023 I left permanent employment and am on a journey to a portfolio career including consulting, contracting and NED roles. My experience is in technology, banking and payments but my passion is for organisations that are trying to add value to the world beyond hitting growth and revenue targets, both in for-profit and non-profit sectors.
What I offer
Programme management, turnaround and PMO
Hands-on leadership to turn around projects and programmes that have lost direction or become entangled in bureaucracy and organisational politics.
Setting clear frameworks for PMO based on what your organisation does and its existing ways of working.
Independent programme review and advice.
Set up and run your business to align with your purpose
"Purpose" can be seen as selling an image that differs from reality. But what if they could be the same? Systems thinkers know "the purpose of a system is what it does". As COO of a systems think tank, I use proven tools to clarify how you add value and how you need to organise to make it work.
Offering critical guidance for leaders who care: a trusted advisor who can help leaders understand what isn't working, how they could be more effective or how to deal with their biggest hairiest problem.
The Schumacher Institute applies systems thinking and ecological principles to its work with business, government and civil society to bring about positive change. Fellows of the Institute are affiliated thinkers with proven credentials who may come together for specific projects.
Visa: managed a portfolio of product development programmes - one struggling, which I turned around and two new ones which I set up along standard principles which I embedded in a new PMO function.
UBS: advised on major technology transformation programmes. Ran divisional migration programmes.
Visa: oversaw remediation of issues after outage of core payment processing system. Satisfied regulators that issues resolved and requirements complied with. Drove improved testing and documentation of resilience.
UBS: drove closure of major issues around change management, access control etc.
