Catapult Course FAQs
Eager to learn more about the Catapult experience? We’ve put together answers to the most commonly asked questions. Take a look!
Catapult is an in-depth and practical course that provides you with the knowledge, tools, inspiration and accountability you need to successfully launch your portfolio career. The course is flexible and designed to fit around any learner and lifestyle, meaning you can watch it at your own pace, whenever and wherever you like. All the modules are pre-recorded and though we’ve devised a running order, you’re welcome to watch them in whatever order you prefer.
The course is split into two tracks: the Focused track, which is geared towards seasoned experts and specialists who want to find their focus and monetise their skills, and the Generalist track which provides a broader overview of what’s possible and helps you differentiate yourself.
We also host a weekly Catapult Connect call that allows you to get involved in a live discussion and ask questions about the modules you’re currently taking. This is open to all learners, no matter where they are in the Catapult journey. To access the call, simply sign up for the days you’d like to attend. This is not a mandatory session, but we highly encourage you to come along as it’s a great way to speak directly to our in-house experts and meet other professionals on the course.
We get that a lot. Check out this handy article with more information about what a portfolio career can look like.
We’ve updated the framework for Catapult to ensure that it is as flexible as possible to help those who have full-time responsibilities – whether that’s work, family, etc. All the lessons are pre-recorded, which means you can watch those whenever best suits.
This is an in-depth course, but with it you gain access to support and ongoing learning as you continue your journey beyond Catapult.
The short answer? No. You can attend whenever you like. The sessions aren’t focused around any particular module or topic, but rather they’re designed for learners to drop in when they need advice, have questions or just want a bit of clarity around something they’ve encountered in the course. It’s also a space where you can get feedback from other learners and even start to build your network.
That’s easy! You get unlimited access to Catapult (and all our masterclasses) when you become a Pioneer Lite member. It only costs £15/month.
Once you’re a member, you can access our Catapult learning platform and start engaging with the different modules. You’ll just need to fill out the Catapult enrolment form. From there, you can choose your track and start enjoying the course.
You’ll benefit from an extensive, all-in-one curriculum that covers everything from deciding on your portfolio approach; to setting up a website; to negotiating your first contract and budgeting your finances. You can learn more about our curriculum by visiting the course page.
This course is flexible and in-depth. There are eight modules that you can engage with. It’s up to you whether or not you take all eight, though we do encourage it. We also recommend you take them in the order we designed, although you’re welcome to watch them in whatever order you prefer. Each module has a pre-recorded video (ranging from 30-60 minutes each) and a series of activities to help you further develop different aspects of your portfolio career.
We recommend that you do 1-2 modules per week. Each module will have a video learning session (ranging from 30-60 minutes) and you can expect to spend roughly 1 hour on the pre- and post-session activities per module.
You also have the option to enhance your learning by attending our live Catapult Connect sessions. These are an hour long, take place every week and are highly encouraged (although not mandatory).
Catapult is aimed at anyone looking to make a change in their career. You may be considering your options, have already started a portfolio career or be somewhere in between.
The course is split into two tracks: the Focused track, which is for professionals who have already spent some time building up a niche, and the Generalist track which provides a broader overview of what’s possible and helps define and differentiate what you do.
If you’ve already started as a freelancer or have a side hustle, you may want some extra support and guidance in certain areas. If you’re facing redundancy or are looking to build a new career path for yourself, we can help you create your portfolio career from scratch.
You don’t have to do all the modules. You may wish to only do some of the modules that directly apply to you if you’ve already started working as a freelancer, for example. Although we do recommend you do as many as you can to get a full overview.
These discussions are by no means mandatory, although they are a great way to supplement your learning and get to know other professionals going on the same journey as you. You are welcome to attend as many (or as few) as you like. The choice is yours!
No, you don’t have to be in the UK. All of the lessons are pre-recorded and available to watch on-demand. We aim to run the Catapult Connect sessions at times that suit the most time zones, although we’re always open to discuss different options. Do let us know if you’d like to chat about this.
The only way to access our Catapult course is via our Pioneer Lite membership. This costs £15/month. There are no additional fees or costs to take Catapult outside the membership fee.
We totally understand that you may be balancing several roles, which is why this course is flexible and on-demand. That way, you can fit your learning around other schedule commitments. All recorded sessions will be available to view at your leisure and are accessed via the learning suite.
Unfortunately, the Catapult Connect sessions will not be recorded, so we encourage you to join where you can. As these are supplementary sessions, you do not need them to complete the course. Although we do encourage that you attend.
We are all learning together, and we want to hear from you if you are having any difficulties. Please contact [email protected] and we’ll endeavour to answer any questions as quickly as possible.
Everyone learns at their own pace, and some people may choose to dip in and out of the modules depending on their work schedule. That being said, we recommend you complete 1-2 modules per week.
Each module will have a video learning session (ranging from 30-60 minutes) and you can expect to spend roughly 1 hour on the pre- and post-session activities per module. You can also attend our hour long Catapult Connect session for extended learning and discussion (takes place weekly and is open to all Catapult learners).
If you have any other questions about the Catapult course, feel free to contact us directly. We’d be more than happy to have a chat.
Double check your spam/junk folder in case your filters are a little sensitive. You can help this by adding [email protected] to your safe senders list in advance. If there’s still no emails to be found, please do contact us at this email address, and we’ll get you on your way.
Yes! We have a Catapult group on the platform that you can engage in, as well as a weekly Pathfinder Check-in Call for Catapult graduates and Pioneer Lite members. This is a great place to tell us about your career development, get group feedback and gain that accountability that is so important in a portfolio career.
After Catapult, we recommend you continue your learning with our in-depth masterclasses. We have a few to choose from, with plenty more in development to come! You can view our full list of masterclasses here.
