I have been floating around here for a while but thought it was a good time to introduce myself for 2026!

I’m also a bit of an operations geek and in a previous life I was quite senior in operations at companies like Adobe and Ferrero, and have been considering adding another string to my bow and taking on some fractional operations clients in 2026.

For my pricing, I started with a target day rate and the levels of discounting I can tolerate. Then I packaged my offerings into a menu of products. Behind the scenes I have a table that helps me scale the costs based on the size of the org/team – small teams are cheaper to deliver, so I charge less. In reality…

Looking for volunteer mentors – Global Business Championship 2026 (April)
I’m Alan Forgie, Client Services Manager for Oxford International Education Group, leading delivery of the Global Business Championship 2026 — an international entrepreneurship programme for high-potential students aged 15–18.
The Championship brings together exceptional students from across Europe, the Middle East, East Asia and Latin America. They work in diverse teams to develop and pitch early-stage business ideas rooted in real-world commercial and social challenges.
The problem we’re solving

Hey all! I’ve been on my portfolio career journey for a while now and have spent a lot of time reflecting on it. I think that we often focus on the visible parts like clients, deals, income streams, while overlooking the psychological and identity work that comes with the transition.
I wrote a piece about the things that tend to break when you leave a full-time job (vision, money, identity, structure, and community) and the struggles I’ve seen in my own journey and in conversations with others. I thought it might resonate, so I wanted to share it.
