VP Product

CloudNC

Background:

CloudNC was founded by Theo Saville, CEO and Chris Emery, Chief Scientist in 2015 and consists of a world-class team combining expertise in computer science, software and physical manufacturing.

CloudNC’s mission is to make single-click manufacturing a reality. They build software that automates control of CNC machines – metal cutting robots that make >$1Trn of components every year, for anything from aircraft to iPhones to cars. Worldwide over 100 million hours are spent painstakingly programming these incredible machines by hand every year, a colossal waste of human time and talent in an industry already facing an existential skills crisis. CloudNC’s software, CAM Assist, brings one-click automation to CNC machining, via add-ons for Fusion 360 and Mastercam, as well as for Siemens NX CAM and Solid Edge CAM Pro, leaving the customers to perfect the strategy with their unique style, so they can focus on solving more exciting challenges.

CloudNC has a state-of-the-art factory in the UK, where the company supplies high-spec precision machined components to customers in a range of industrial sectors including Automotive, Defence, Aerospace & Space, Energy & Nuclear, and General Industry.

Backed by leading investors and partners, Atomico, Episode 1 Ventures, Autodesk and Lockheed Martin, they are scaling from Series B to C at pace and are fully funded for this growth.

The Role – VP Product:

We seek a highly technical & skilled Product leader to join the CloudNC senior leadership team, where you will play a crucial role in driving success by leading Product strategy, development, and delivery. You will drive the Product forward with high conviction, by developing a clear vision, then getting your hands dirty and obsessing over details to keep improving.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Product Vision & Strategy. Develop and execute a comprehensive vision & strategy for CloudNC’s highly complex Product, aligned with the company’s overall goals and objectives, by leading from the front and identifying customer needs, the competitive landscape, potential leveraging of partner products and performing market analysis, all to drive innovation, effectiveness and differentiation with one Product in mind – CAM Assist.
  • Roadmap Planning. Create & maintain a strategic Product roadmap that aligns with customer requirements, market demands & business priorities. Continuously evaluate & refine the roadmap based on feedback, data analysis, & industry trends.
  • Product Development. Lead the Product development lifecycle, from ideation to launch. You form your own opinion by extensively utilising and leveraging the expertise from customers and from CloudNC’s factory, plus collaborating with cross-functional teams such as Marketing and Engineering, all to drive innovation and define requirements, prioritise features, and ensure timely delivery of the Product.
  • Team Leadership. Manage a small (4-6 FTE) high-performing Product team providing guidance, mentorship, and support. Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the team.
  • Stakeholder Management. Collaborate closely with key peers and stakeholders to understand customer needs, gather feedback, and align the strategy with business objectives.
  • Performance Tracking. Define & track key metrics to measure the success and impact of Product initiatives. Make data-driven decisions to optimise Product performance and drive continuous improvement.

Experience & Profile:

You’re a Product leader with an engineering background and proven experience defining and delivering comprehensive Product visions and strategies in a B2B SaaS context. You are a visionary, but are also comfortable rolling your sleeves up and getting stuck in.

Your experience and profile will include the following:

  • Experienced Product Leader. You have proven experience (10+ years) in visionary, complex Product management roles at a Series B company or in a similar-sized entrepreneurial business, and you have a good grasp of how to measure Product performance.
  • Engineering Background. You are an engineer, ideally with demonstrable experience from a complex deep tech B2B SaaS Product.
  • High EQ. You are a very good team player and use your strong conviction to drive Product development.
  • Hands-on Involvement. You know that to build a great Product vision, you need to understand the nuts and bolts of the Product by discussing with software engineers, leveraging use cases of machinists and talking with demanding customers (i.e. you don’t just rely on customer surveys for intel).

The ideal candidate will also display the following attributes and experience:

  • Manufacturing domain. You have experience in the manufacturing industry.
  • Product Data. You are data-driven and have defined key metrics that drive success.
