About the role:

As the VP Finance, you’ll play a crucial role in our next phase of growth. In addition to building and leading the Finance function, a major focus will be on raising capital to build new plants and expand, matching the growing demand from the hospitality and medical sectors. We’re gearing up for a Series B funding round later this year, with a preference for project finance alongside venture capital. Your expertise in complex project fundraising and infrastructure finance will be instrumental in achieving our goals.

Responsibilities:

Here’s a taste of what you’ll get up to:

  • Strategic Ownership: You will guide our fiscal strategy and execution through and beyond our next raise.
  • Fundraising: You will spearhead our fundraising efforts, innovatively identifying all possible ways to fund our growth, including venture capital, project capital, asset financing, venture debt, and more (fill in the gaps!)
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: You will own all budgeting and forecasting, including annual budgeting, long-term forecasting, and scenario modelling. Your models will provide critical insights for strategy, decision-making and fundraising.
  • Finance Team Optimisation: Our current finance team has been instrumental in driving our results to date. Your responsibility will be to design and build the Finance team for the future, then hire and mentor them to deliver.
  • Board Alignment: You will work closely with the board to ensure alignment around strategy and execution.
  • Data Protection: You will (likely) also assume the role of DPO as the IT needs of the company grow.

Key Relationships:

This role will report directly to the CEO, Kyle Grant. You will also work closely with the senior team, including the ‘ExCo’; Chief Commercial Officer, VP Business Operations, VP Platform, plus the rest of the senior leadership team and heads of departments.

Your responsibilities include managing and mentoring the current finance team. Currently, the team comprises a Fractional FD , Head of Finance and a Finance associate.

Requirements

Must have:

  • Finance Function Leadership: You should have firsthand leadership experience in the finance function of a high-growth business, on a nationwide or international scale, likely in a VC-backed company.
  • Fundraising: You should have successfully led fundraising efforts, with clear evidence of having raised capital through various means, including venture debt. Experience with infrastructure project financing is ideal.
  • Quantitative Rigour: You should exhibit quantitative thinking, providing analysis at all organisational levels with ease. Proficiency in contemporary data tools, metrics, and reporting systems that ensure financial rigour throughout the company is required.
  • Infrastructure Experience: You should have extensive experience in establishing financial, banking, and legal infrastructure for scaling a business, particularly at the Series B stage, and in an organisation that deployed assets in the “real world” (not just a SaaS offering).
  • Team Attitude: You should show clear evidence of functioning as an integral part of a high-performance leadership team. We expect a collaborative approach as a business partner and the ability to contribute across broader business domains (not just limited to finance).
  • Accountancy Qualification: You have received accountancy training and know what good financial systems look like.
  • Passion: You should be eager to grow and be part of an ambitious mission that is revolutionising the laundry industry.

Nice to have:

  • MBA from a top-tier university.
  • Startup or Scaleup Experience: Ideally, you have successfully led the transition of a Finance Function from startup to scaleup and throughout different stages of growth.
  • Investment Banking or Strategy Consulting – experience in developing and evaluating rigorous strategies, plans and valuations from the “other side” of the market.

Location: Remote (Swindon 2 days per week, ideally Tuesday and Thursday with the rest of the senior leadership team)

Contract: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: Competitive salary package including stock options.

Hiring Process

After an initial screening call, the hiring process will involve an interview with the CEO, an in-depth case study around the financial strategy of the business, and a final alignment call with the board in the final interview stages.

This role will be closely involved with the board, and your alignment with Kyle, our CEO, is critical. If you’re ready to make a significant impact and drive Oxwash’s financial success, we encourage you to apply!
