Background

SpaceGenie is a new venture being launched by Intriva. A storage solution business based in Germany it is on track to revolutionise the storage industry in Germany with a digital-first operating and service model. The first site is being launched in Q2 with plans for 8 more sites in 2024 and plans to build and operate more than 50 self-storage facilities across Germany, representing one of the largest platforms of its kind in the country.

Offering remote fulfilment and support SpaceGenie will be operating a tech first business model offering a number of different storage solution models across the German market.

The team within Intriva leading the development of the business include Managing Partner Simon Finn. The recently appointed senior management team within SpaceGenie include Chief Investment Officer Stefan Kluners who has proven experience in a high-growth operation in this industry within Germany.


The Role – Fractional CMO

SpaceGenie is preparing to open its first site in Q2 2024. To support this they are looking for a Fractional CMO who can lead in developing their marketing strategy, including positioning and user personas, build brand awareness and drive early customer acquisition.

The Fractional CMO will be a mid-term high-impact role tasked with being the driving force behind zero to 1 marketing activities; developing a clear strategy that can be executed rapidly and effectively.

SpaceGenie will be unique in the market, with its tech platform offering and as such this role is focused on defining how the value proposition, built on the unique differentiators, will be communicated to customers.

It is expected that marketing activities will be digital first and as such you will need to be digitally literate in regards to operating models and marketing activities.

The key responsibilities of the role include the following:

    1. Brand Strategy. Strengthen brand identity, creating and communicating the brand story Develop the future marketing strategy for Space Genie, including brand strategy.
    2. Customer Segmentation. Identify market-specific customer segmentation, building buyer personas and ICPs.
    3. Value Proposition. Lead on articulating the value proposition into a strong brand narrative that resonates with adopters, highlighting the benefits of the Space Genie offer.
    4. Proposition/Concept Testing. Identifying, researching and testing new/alternative product propositions to be incorporated into the offering to market.
    5. Channel Plan. Identify the key promotional channels and design and execute marketing campaigns.
    6. Execution. As the first marketing hire, as well as setting strategy you will have to execute marketing activities from day 1 utilising agency support.
    7. Data Driven Growth. Leading work on mining data to understand and respond to key drivers of supply and demand.
    8. Metrics and Reporting. Determine the key success metrics for marketing activities including customer growth and retention, setting OKRs and reporting methodology.

Experience and Skills

Essential:

    • Ideally a blend of B2B and B2C experience. You’ll have demonstrable experience in defining marketing strategy for a start-up at launch.
    • You’ll have taken a lead role in building a brand from scratch.
  • Have executed successful demand generation strategies with customer acquisition and retention.
  • Significant hands-on experience with SEO, digital, and social media management. You can cover both the strategy and the delivery.
  • You can work effectively with investors, leadership team and external agencies
  • A motivated self-starter, who can work independently at pace.
  • You’ll be either living in Germany or have spent notable time working within Germany and are able to travel to the office in Frankfurt occasionally.

Desirable:

  • Some experience working in storage or a comparable, predominantly B2B market.
  • Top level project management and communication skills, including working with stakeholders and external resources to deliver project objectives.

Time Requirement

Ideally, run as a FT 6-8 week sprint or as 3 days a week over 12-16 weeks.

Location
Ideally based in Germany, able to visit the office in Frankfurt

Remuneration
Remuneration will depend on your experience and suitability but is likely to be €650-€1000 per day.
