Summary
Traditional headhunters are slow and charge massive success fees, making them unsuitable for entrepreneurial ventures that are in a hurry, on a tight budget and needing very specific skills. To fill this gap, at The Portfolio Collective (TPC) we have designed a unique and refreshing proprietary process to deliver clients a tailored shortlist of 3-5 outstanding candidates in 3-4 weeks at a fraction of the cost of a traditional headhunter.
Through our Venture Consulting services, we support entrepreneurial ventures to work with and hire the best available talent to scale their businesses. To achieve this we offer mentors, advisors, fractional leaders, experts and consulting teams from the 13,000 diverse, fractional business builders and experts within our community. Many clients also ask us to support their senior full-time hiring too - that’s where our Talent Partners come in.
As demand continues to grow for our offerings we are looking for Talent Partners to support the delivery of full-time roles on a per-project basis. This is an exciting opportunity to work with ambitious founders and CEOs of entrepreneurial ventures, where placing the right candidate can lead to exponential business growth.
Who we are
The Portfolio Collective (TPC) was set up by Ben Legg (former COO of Google Europe) in July of 2020 with our COO Fiona Chorlton-Voong. We could see that in the near future half of all professionals globally will be portfolio professionals, and that they will need support in launching and sustaining successful portfolio careers. You can learn more in our Future of Careers article. We are now a team of 10 (+ 30 fractional community members) who are passionate about shaping the future of work. In our first four years we have scaled rapidly, with key achievements including:

- Conducted 500+ events and courses
- Gathered over 13,000 high-calibre members around the world
We have raised $2m to date, from 250 members from our community, so we are built for our members and owned by our members.
What is the role?
As a Talent Partner you’ll take full ownership of the headhunting process for specified client projects, thereby managing the client relationship, assessing potential candidates and ensuring all community members have a positive experience of the hiring process.
Specifically this would involve:
- Writing job descriptions.
- Building assessment frameworks.
- Interviewing candidates for screening.
- Handing over shortlists to clients.
- Informing candidates of their outcome.
Requirements
Essential:
- 6+ years of professional experience.
- 3+ years in recruitment, people or operations roles.
- Project management experience, specifically hiring a range of diverse senior roles.
- Experience at a rapidly growing start-up, scale-up or other entrepreneurial venture.
Time Requirement
This role is project based and typically requires around 16-24 hours per client project, spread over 3-4 weeks. There is some variability, depending on the availability of candidates and needs of the client.
Location
This is a flexible and remote role. However, most clients are Europe-based so the individual would need to accommodate European working hours.
Remuneration
You would be paid on a per project basis, with payments based on relevant deliverables/ milestones for clients, such as delivering a shortlist, or an offer being accepted. Total fees per role vary from £1,200 to £2,000 depending on seniority and complexity.
