Two years ago the world changed dramatically. The pandemic shook up our norms and made us realise that better ways of working were possible. We could have flexible careers; we could do the work that we loved; and our professional development, salaries and routines didn’t need to be dictated by an employer.
In other words, portfolio careers were booming – but starting one wasn’t without its challenges. It could be lonely and difficult. So we decided to do something about it. We set out on a mission to change the world of work, introducing thousands – hopefully one day millions – of professionals to the boundless possibilities a portfolio career has to offer.
Now, we’re opening our doors and inviting you – the dedicated and passionate professionals who have made our community so extraordinary – to invest in the future of The Portfolio Collective. What better owners could we have than our own community members?
The journey so far has been astounding and it’s all thanks to you
Our community is exceptional because our members are so devoted to our mission. A lot of our growth has happened organically – you told a friend, who told a friend who shared it on social media. Before we knew it, we were getting approached by strangers who were singing The Portfolio Collective’s praises. The world was clearly hungry for what we were building.
In just 19 months, we saw over 125,000 unique visits to our website and our network grew to over 5,000 professionals across 190 countries. We hosted over 200 events, launched two masterclasses and ran 10 cohorts of our five-star rated Catapult course. That’s not to mention all the collaborations that were happening within the community. Members were reaching out to one another to find support, fill roles and share opportunities. They were mentoring each other, working together and even teaming up to launch new business ventures.
As our network grew, we started to get approached by cool startups and scaleups in search of part-time and permanent talent. The word was getting out that our community was exceptional, so our talent partnerships offering fell seamlessly into place. In an average of two weeks, we were delivering qualified shortlists of professionals from our community and network. Now, we’ve got plans to grow this service exponentially. Who knows, maybe one day every startup in the world will have a member of The Portfolio Collective supporting their team…
So why a crowdfund? Why now?
Everything we do, we do for our community. We want to help you define your career, learn new skills, find rewarding work and be supported every step of the way. Our platform should fit seamlessly into your busy portfolio lifestyle, giving you all the tools you need to find success – but we need your help to get there first.
To date, most of our investment has been through VCs and angel investors. Now, we want you to shape the future of TPC by becoming an angel investor yourself. We love how supportive our community is of one another. Investing your cash – as well as your time – to help us nurture more professionals is a great expression of that support.
Our goal is to raise £300k through this crowdfund, which is just part of a larger £800k we’re hoping to secure this year.
With your investment, we can:
- Expand our talent partnership offering. We want to grow our talent match team and build automated functions that allow us to process a higher volume of roles. That means more paid opportunities for you.
- Hire more developers. With a bigger development team, we can enhance our learning suite, automate talent matching, create better messaging and give you the collaboration tools you need. We also plan on launching a mobile and desktop app later this year.
- Build out our partnerships. This will help us generate new revenue streams and secure exclusive offers and discounts for our premium members. Nearly double the size of our team. We currently have 12 amazing team members. Your investment could help us bring that up to 22 by the end of the year.

How you can invest
Our crowdfund is currently open for registration on Seedrs. We’ll be launching it to the wider public soon, so make sure you get in nice and early. If you’re not sure how to invest, don’t worry. Seedrs will guide you through the whole process, from pre-registering to actually making your investment.
This crowdfund is an equity crowdfund. That means that we can raise funds from a large number of investors (i.e. our community) in exchange for equity in TPC. As an individual investor, you will become a shareholder.
That being said, the Seedrs platform currently can’t accept direct investment from certain non-EU locations, including the US, South Africa and Japan. So if you want to take part and live in any of those locations, you can invest directly through us. We’ll set up an Advanced Subscription Agreement (ASA) which will allow you to invest in the crowdfund on exactly the same terms – a slightly different mechanism, but the same effect.
