Every member’s approach to work and life is different, but we’re fiercely supportive of one another, and that’s what makes this space so energising. As a member of this community, we expect you to uphold this positive environment and make everyone feel welcome.

The rules on engagement are simple
Be respectful
Not all of us will agree with each other, and that’s fine! But we should always be respectful of each other’s ideas and beliefs.
Be constructive
Feedback is highly encouraged. Just make sure that any criticism is provided respectfully and with professional tact – we’re all humans, after all!
Engage and collaborate
If you see an opportunity to work with someone, do so. But keep in mind that we are a community of professionals and most people will expect to be compensated for their work.
Celebrate milestones
The best part of being in a community is celebrating your accomplishments. Share your wins and support other people’s professional development as much as possible.
Promote yourself and others
Many come to our community looking for opportunities. Self-promotion is welcome, just make sure you do it in the right environment (i.e. not unprompted during a course or event).
Embrace mentorship
Wisdom and experience can go a long way. If you’ve got some knowledge to share, let it be known. We highly encourage mentorships and relationship-building.
Respect each other’s privacy
If you choose to give personal information to another member, please do so via private message. And never share anyone else’s details without their permission.
Don’t hijack the conversation
Everyone has a platform to speak and be heard. If we see anyone spamming posts or taking over someone else’s conversation, we’ll make sure to step in.
Don’t discriminate
Sexism, racism, homophobia, transphobia or any other kind of discriminatory behaviour is not welcome. If you feel you have been a victim of this, let us know and we’ll investigate.
Keep it clean
Don’t post content that contains nudity or may be deemed as pornographic or sexually explicit.
Don’t threaten violence
If we believe there’s a genuine risk of physical harm or a threat to public safety, we won’t hesitate to report it to the proper authorities.
Don’t bully or harass
Bullying is any sort of habitual pestering or intimidation targeted at a specific person or group. We take it very seriously and will step in as soon as we see it happening.
Don’t spam the platform
Please don’t post links to spammy third-party websites or share links that aren’t relevant to the conversation.
Don’t impersonate others
This applies to both community members and the TPC team. Impersonation is a form of harassment and we don’t take it lightly.
Don’t do anything that breaks the law
You should never advocate any illegal activities through the forum. Any posts or comments that do so will be removed.
Don’t claim ownership of someone else’s work
If you share something you yourself didn’t create, you must have the permission to do so.
How we champion diversity and inclusion
Our members represent a rich tapestry of backgrounds, cultures, belief systems and identities. We’re committed to keeping this space open to everyone and we seek to treat all our members as fairly and equally as possible. If we fail in that pursuit, you can be certain that we’ll acknowledge our shortcomings and strive to do better.
If a community member makes a mistake, we expect them to take responsibility for it in much the same fashion. If someone has been harmed or offended by something that took place in our community, we will listen and investigate thoroughly, doing our best to right whatever wrong has occurred.
We hope to create a safe space that honours age, gender identity or expression, professional experience, sexual orientation, religion, culture, language, ethnicity, race, political belief, socioeconomic status or technical fluency. Of course, that is by no means an exhaustive list. Be assured that discrimination based on any protected characteristics like disability is in breach of our code of conduct.
How we enforce the rules
If you see something that doesn’t look right, or if you feel you’re experiencing harassment in the community, send a message to The Portfolio Collective Team. We’ll aim to respond within 48 hours. Anything you say is confidential until further action needs to be taken.
We promise to investigate any reports made of inappropriate or offensive behaviour. Please be aware that each case may require a different approach, and we’ll tailor our response accordingly. Depending on the situation, we may decide to:
