Summary

Our client is a seed-funded Edtech startup looking for a part-time Chief of Staff (3 days per week) to provide the senior leadership team with leverage and help the company deliver on its ambitious plans for growth.

The Chief of Staff will report into the company’s COO, providing leadership support, leading on special projects, implementing routines and processes, and being closely involved in raising the company’s next round of funding.

Key responsibilities

1. Leadership Support:

  • Defining and implementing a growth strategy for the business with significant autonomy

  • Helping leadership think through the new organisational structure, team dynamics and talent acquisition strategy

  • Supporting with new business and product launches

  • Writing presentations to ensure consistent communication throughout the business

2. Special Projects:

  • Leading cross-functional initiatives and tangential strategic opportunities

  • Covering interim roles and standing in for key functional leadership positions when vacant

  • Implementing HR/policy updates

  • Conducting corporate/business development

3. Company Routines and Processes:

  • Defining the cadence of leadership and broader company meetings

  • Ensuring the right objectives, attendees, agenda and follow-ups for each meeting

  • Coordinating internal communications

  • Coordinating preparation for board meetings

Experience required

We are looking for an ambitious and entrepreneurial individual with 5+ years of professional experience that is looking to take on significant responsibility and further their professional development. The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience and success in the following key areas:

  • Problem solving and strategic thinking; ideally from experience in another startup or working at a strategy consultancy

  • Project management, including leading cross-functional projects

  • Written and verbal communication with empathy

  • Data analysis for the purposes of financial forecasting and decision making

  • Multi-tasking and prioritisation of multiple responsibilities whilst meeting deadlines and maintaining high levels of attention to detail

  • Ability to handle complex situations, bringing calm and focus when needed

  • Resilient and comfort dealing with ambiguity and change

  • Relationship building across all levels, with strong influencing and networking skills

  • Utterly discreet and used to handling confidential information and projects
