Overview

Viital is a small SaaS company with a platform that helps large companies and their agencies build great 3D interactive web experiences. The founders have had to step back from day-to-day operations, so they are looking for a new CEO - with experience selling technology to large company marketing teams and their agencies - to lead the business through revenue growth and an exit in 2024.

About Viital

Viital builds digital products that enable the creation of interactive and immersive web experiences. They help clients convey complex information and ideas in visually compelling ways. This includes showcasing products, services and content in 3D, plus supporting employees and stakeholders with interactive experiences, e.g. for induction, training or collaboration. Viital has an impressive international client list, including Oriflame, Coats Viyella, EY, Fidelity, National Grid and AkzoNobel.

The main product is Spacemkr, a SaaS platform. Spacemkr gives users the tools to create interactive and immersive web experiences in-house, by removing complex and time-consuming web development challenges. This helps company marketing teams and agencies to be more creative, and build faster at a much lower cost.

About the role

The founders are looking for a CEO with a business development track record and a strong network in the marketing technology and creative agency world. In essence, the Viital technology is great, and they need someone with the skills, network and energy to grow client numbers and revenue from around £300k to over £1m annual revenue. As revenues and margins grow, the expectation is to sell the company to a larger technology company or agency in 2024.

As CEO, you will be responsible for running the entire business, from strategy through planning and execution. In reality, most of the role will be marketing, business development and client project coordination (with their team/ agency). You will also be the public face of the business. You will have the support of the cofounders, who will remain on the board.

The key responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

  • Strategy. Owning the Viital strategy and product roadmap.
  • Marketing. Ensuring that Viital and Spacemkr have the right marketing and collateral.
  • Business Development. Building a robust sales pipeline to win at least 1-2 new clients per month.
  • Client Support. Ensuring that all client implementations, projects and other needs are professionally supported. 
  • Team & Partnerships. As the business grows, work out the optimal mix of team members, fractional professionals and agencies needed to execute. 
  • Finance. Build a financial plan and track performance vs plan. Ensure company finances are transparent for the board.
  • Board. Work with the board to ensure 1) good governance, and 2) that you get the optimal input and support from them.
  • Exit. As the business grows, explore options for an exit, and execute the most promising opportunities.

Logistics

  • Time requirement - fractional (likely 1-2 days per week at the start, ramping up as the company grows).
  • Location - working from home, with some travel required to client offices and board meetings in London.

Required experience & attributes

  • Experience working at a senior level in the creative agency and/or marketing technology industry. 
  • Have a strong network of decision-makers in marketing teams and agencies.
  • Understand and can clearly communicate all the latest marketing technology trends.
  • Track record of successfully selling software and/ or related services to marketing teams and/ or agencies.
  • Experience leading teams across multiple business functions such as sales, marketing, partnerships, customer success and finance.

Desirable experience

  • Experience in the 3D space.
  • International sales experience.
  • Experience managing a Board of Directors and other corporate stakeholders.
  • Experience working in a startup and ‘wearing multiple hats’.

Remuneration

  • Low base salary (approx. £3k per month)
  • Generous commission (25% of ‘contribution’ per client)
  • Meaningful share of any exit proceeds
