Portfolio careers aren’t new, but they’re accelerating faster than anticipated

It was predicted that half of working adults would have multiple income streams by 2028. That number has already hit 48%.

Since 2020, millions have transitioned away from traditional employment, choosing the flexibility and higher earnings of portfolio work. But this change has created new problems – a lack of belonging, less professional support and uncertainty around finding work – resulting in an isolated and disconnected workforce.

So we built The Portfolio Collective (TPC), a space for portfolio professionals to learn together, support one another and inspire new opportunities. It started in early lockdown with 100 Founding Members collaborating, sharing ideas and recommending us to everyone they knew. Today, we’re 13k+ members strong and there’s no sign of that slowing down anytime soon.

Our traction

Since our launch in July 2020, we’ve built TPC into the world’s most entrepreneurial collective of portfolio professionals. Members are a diverse mix of independent experts helping ambitious clients adapt, innovate and professionalise. They include ex-founders, functional leaders, industry experts, consultants, mentors, coaches, NEDs, angel investors, authors, creatives, analysts, project managers and academics – just to name a few!

Our biggest growth driver continues to be word of mouth. Last year, new member sign ups increased by 46%, driven primarily by community member referrals and SEO.

What you’ll get as an investor

As an investor, you’ll become a Founding Member of TPC – part of our inner circle. This will give you insight into, and influence over, how we shape the collective. You’ll also get access to our founders and other Founding Members in exclusive groups and events.

How to invest

We process investments as Advance Subscription Agreements (ASAs) – which are the UK equivalent of a US ‘SAFE’ – via the SeedLegals platform. This is simple, efficient and minimises legal fees.

All investors have 100% ordinary shares. As a community built on democratic principles, we hope to keep it that way. One share, one vote.

Ben is an engineer, global technology CEO, ex-McKinsey consultant and former COO of Google Europe, as well as an author and thought leader on the future of society. He has a successful portfolio career supporting founders and investors.

Fiona Chorlton-Voong

COO and Co-founder

Fiona is responsible for TPC’s growth. She has a talent for leveraging technology and an insatiable drive to help others succeed. With a portfolio career of her own, Fiona coaches female entrepreneurs and helps businesses build memorable brands.
